We Love Educators

Dear Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson,

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to celebrate the educators in our communities who have made such a difference in our lives. As parents and students, we know firsthand how compassionate, dedicated, and resourceful the teachers, counselors, and support staff are in our public schools.

Unfortunately, educators have been doing tireless work under increasingly hostile situations in recent years, thanks to politicians like yourself who seek to demonize and belittle them. You have heckled these hardworking educators, calling them “demons” and “wicked people,” and you have used state resources to harass them about so-called “indoctrination.” You’ve also endorsed radical candidates like Michele Morrow, who seek to defund and destroy public schools.

These actions are an embarrassment and a disgrace. Public schools are the heart and soul of our communities and public school educators are essential workers. The teacher who provides snacks for a hungry kid, the nurse who listens to a young person’s worries, the counselor who encourages a path to college – these are not wicked people.

Many of us learned in elementary school how to reflect on our harmful words and relate to those whom we might have hurt. This Teacher Appreciation Week, we hope you take some time to learn how truly wonderful and valuable our educators are.

Sincerely,

YOUR NAME
