Tell Mark Robinson "Thanks Anyway" for Medicaid Expansion

Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson not only opposed Medicaid Expansion, he actively rooted for its failure saying, “I’m not in favor of Medicaid expansion,” and “I hope that it fails.”

Even after Medicaid Expansion passed with bipartisan support, Robinson said he was “dismayed” and “not pleased” about its passing and that he was “still not in favor of that” and “[doesn’t] like that it’s here.”

As we celebrate the expansion of Medicaid to provide 600,000 North Carolinians with health care on December 1st, let’s remind Mark Robinson that we know where he stands and as voters we don’t like it.

In North Carolina, where healthcare is fraught,
And many a family struggle with cost,
There lived a grinchy Lieutenant Gov.
And Medicaid Expansion he did not love.

He’d scowl and frown, his face quite tight,
At the thought of helping those in plight.
“Medicaid is bad!” he loudly wails,
“Those folks don’t deserve it, I hope it fails!”

The people in need did not give up, in spite.
The Dems and the advocates continued to fight.
“The people are suffering” they said, “It’s unfair”
“Everyone deserves the right to healthcare”

And it came, yes it came
In spite of it all
Medicaid was expanded
For the short and the tall
For old folks and young,
For towns large and small
Healthcare is now
available for all.

Mark Robinson still scowls
A grumpy old grinch
His heart didn’t grow
Not even an inch

On December the First
The people cheered, oh what a lark!
Our healthcare is saved
Thanks anyway, Mark!
